Love this list!! I've read Jenny Erpenbeck's Kairos and next on my shelf is Go, Went, Gone!!

I am starting ORLANDA tonight!!! You know I was so excited about it already, now that I have read your note about it… I am legit upset that I have to fucking work all day and can’t just roll into bed with it!

Jenny 5!!! Congrats!!! Your list of “who this is for” made me laugh out loud several times because it reads like a Petya profile…. Which, of course, checks out because you know how much I love her. Even though I am reading her in the opposite order you have recommended! 😂😂

No you will love this little essay collection of hers!! & i stand by it being so brave of you to tackle Kairos first

More people really do need to read Orlanda. Harpman has range! It was a really fun read. I’m adding Diving Board to my TBR too.

was blown away by her range! Diving Board is great for this kind of spooky, gray, blustery season, well-suited to early Nov, hope you enjoy when you get to it

oooh I'm excited to read Orlanda! Woolf's Orlando is one of my favorites and this sounds really good.

this is how i learn that jacqueline harpman has a book that's an homage to orlando - instant library request. i also realized i've now read and enjoyed all three novels from your "reading routine" post, which means i should also check out jenny erpenbeck - i've been scared off since a friend described kairos as making her actually depressed in the real world!

and yes! release the drafts!!

I’m so excited for your erpenbeck journey ! but yes proceed with caution Kairos also emotionally affected my daily life across the many slow weeks I read it and not in a good way : )

I have been intrigued by Orlanda but hadn’t been keen on I Who Have Nevr Known Men (controversial, I know!). This clinches it that I should dig in.

No I’m totally with you re: I Who Have Never —hope you like Orlanda!!

Wow!!! This IS controversial! 🤣🤣 I feel that way about The Calculation of Volume 🙊🙊🙊 It is the exact book that I feel like I *should* enjoy but could not…

Right?? I think I thought IWHNKM would be more about like a genderless way of living, but instead it often seemed to naturalize social constructs as instincts…. But maybe just also not my favourite prose style.
